More About Skate Costa Rica
Skate Cost Rica is a skate ministry founded in 2012 by Steve "Lalo" Edwards and local skater Yoel Gutierrez. We have a skate team (discipleship group), skate church in multiple locations, special events, and also help local municipalities design quality skate parks. We also have a t-shirt factory in La Carpio with Jeffry "Malaco" Uriarte who is also on our board.
The majority of our team riders are ghetto boys with few resources. We invest in them spiritually and also make sure they have the resources they need for their formal education which is the minimum. We value learning and growing as a life long mindset. Steve Edwards is a 14-year field missionary in Costa Rica. The 1st five years have been documented on LaCarpio.com which included running a community center in the ghetto, soccer teams, computer labs, camp, and music all integrating the Gospel.
The Another Brother Further Foundation launched in the middle of the pandemic to grow the movement of Skate Costa Rica to multi-sport to help other underprivileged kids develop their gifts and pursue their dreams. The Foundation meets kids where they're at in their sport of choice: boxing, judo, jiu-jitsu, downhill mountain biking, BMX freestyle, mathletes, and even more. We're reaching kids that no one else is reaching with the redemptive Gospel of Jesus Christ!
